Part of the Corporate venturing and innovation team at TATA Communications, is responsible for driving emerging technology scanning, continuous evaluation and enabling new innovative ideas around business relevant use cases or disruptive new product creation, across the company. Initiatives range from internal innovation challenges and incubation, external start-up and emerging tech exploration and partnerships, university collaboration and open innovation 

Purpose - Broad objective of the role

Incumbant shall be responsible for leading initiatives around sourcing innovative ideas that can add value to Tata Communications, research into future disruptive technology trends and draw implications in terms of their impact on the company or diff business units of TC in terms of releavnt use cases and provide leading role, working closely with the BUs and internal functions, to execute on key innovation projects in an agile and lean start-up way

Minimum qualification & experience

MBA + Graduate in Engineering/ Science OR Masters in Technology / Communications field  from a Tier I insitute, and with 3-5 years of cumulative relevant work experience 

Other knowledge/skills

Startup / product development/ solutioning background preferred

Highly passionate about exploring new emerging technologies, understanding their imact on future of work and driving potential use cases to impact

Leadership skills, strong cross functional collaboration skills, analytical skills, problem solving ability, forward thinking, work under pressure. Strong understanding of technologies and their commercial / business implications

Excellent communication and presentation skills.Relationship management skills. Self starter and comfortable with ambiguity. Passionate about exploring new technologies.

Key Responsibilities

1. Excellence in Innovation: Passionately acting as an advocate for innovation, challenging traditional thinking. Organising events such as Hackathons and internal challenges for new idea generation. Create and execute internal and external marketing campaigns for innovation challenges.Work on initiatives that incubate and nurture innovative products and services.

2. Disruptive Technology Scanning: Create point of view on new/ disruptive technologies including identification of potential use cases for consideration by business teams. Influence strategic direction for senior leadership for adoption of new, disruptive technologies, Ensure that the ideas that are pursued connect with the organisation’s overall strategy. Work on PoC for identified use cases along with business teams and take idea to scale up mode - develop implementation plans and quantify outcomes and learnings from new initiatives. 

3. Business support on Innovation: Conduct periodic review with business on innovation initiatives undertaken and also to brainstorm on potential initiatives. Create and manage parntership with technology start-up ecosystem: Start-ups, venture capital funds, Corporate venture capital funds and govement agencies across the globe.Asses technical capability of start-ups to solve Tata communications' business problems along with start-up's sustainability and growth assessment.Lead and drive start-up partnership process from scouting to contracting stage.
4. Drive creation of business case: Play challenger role at the time of business creation by reviewing and validating business case assumption on market size, growth, cost ramp up, overhead absorption, time to implement etc. Further review actuals performance against approved business case and drive corrective actions to mitigate variances
