Broad outline of the Role

Purpose - Broad objective of the role

Size and Scope of Role - No. of direct reports

  • a) Engineer maintaining the Global Voice Carrier Network of Tata Communications in the Network Operations Center, Global Customer Service Center, Enterprise Voice. Working in 24*7 plus shift environment
  • b) As a member of Service Assurance resolution of faults at lightening speeds and proactively mitigating network away from faults would be the prime focus.
  • c) Responsible for maintaining the availability of the Enterprise Voice Services, its various elements and services riding on the Global Voice Network.
  • d) Incumbent would be responsible for controlling network faults, performing Root Cause Analysis of Faults, Discussing Permanent Corrective Actions with various stake holders and implementing the routing for same.

  • e) He/She would also be responsible for identifying various faults in Supplier’s spread across the globe and interlocking and working towards mitigating and fixing the same..  
  • f) Incumbent would be working with the various regional Route and Market managers for supplier issues, Focused Tier3 support teams for various technologies and is expected to identify root causes of faults to take up with these teams.

 

Size and Scope of Role - Total team size

  • Education – Graduate Engineer / Diploma (Electronics , Electronics & Telecom, Computers)
  • Certifications – CCNA & SIP School Certified Associate (preferred).
  • 1-4 years for Graduate Engineer (BE/B.Tech)
  • Good understanding of Various telecom Standards and Protocols (RFC, ITU, IETF, SS7, SIP)
  • - Strong Working Knowledge on Soft-switch / Multi-service Access switch / Session Border Controllers (SBC)  Media Gateways and  or IP PBX
  • - Strong Understanding of NGN Softswitches operating and routing architecture.
  • -Having Good knowledge on IP addressing / routing / switching / MPLS concepts.
  • -Strong troubleshooting skills with SS7 / SIP / ISDN protocol.
  • -Exposure on Sonus platform is an added advantage and Preferred
  • -CCNA certification Preferred
  • - Knowledge of TCP/IP Networks and its troubleshooting.
  • - Knowledge of Transport networks (DWDM, SDH, etc) and WAN troubleshooting

Minimum qualification & experience

  • Excellent understanding of Carrier Voice (ILD) Networks and its Call Flow.
  • Experience in operating both TDM and VoIP based switching.
  • Troubleshooting Experience in the NGN ILD Networks is a must.
  • Good understanding of IP Connectivity troubleshooting.
  • Exposure to ticketing tools like Remedy, Service Now, etc.
  • Should have worked with Cross functional team.
  • Experience in using tools like EMS, PMS, OSS, BSS & CDR/Wireshark processing for troubleshooting
  • Strong understanding of ITIL process framework and Service desk concepts

  • Good Analytical, Diagnostic and Problem Solving skills, Customer Centricity, Dealing with ambiguity and pressure.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Should be willing to accept challenges and highly dynamic in nature
